Final Flight

A short narrative : Not only was the weight of the world on his shoulders, the life and death of his legacy came down to this moment. As he drew the blade, the idea that the culmination of his life was leading into this moment began to seep in. This was it. He'd always seen his final days tending to a farm, in a quiet place, bathed in serenity. Where something like this would never happen. Now that fate was upon him, he didn't know what to do with it. Luckily, instinct took over. Running as fast as he could, he closed his eyes, and began to tread wind as the ground dissipated beneath his feet. Eternity began to speak to him, as he clenched his hands tight around the steel with witch he would write his everlasting name. As he swung the blade, visions raced through his head of a paradise, woven with sanctity, and the warmth of peace. He smiled one last time, dreaming of a tomorrow that would never come.
